Stories are not just a form of entertainment—they are one of the most powerful tools for nurturing imagination, empathy, moral understanding, and language development in children. Our dedicated “Story Time” sessions, personally conducted by Dr. Atiyah, have become a cornerstone of our educational philosophy, weaving together academic growth with spiritual and moral enrichment.
Each session is thoughtfully designed to strengthen students’ religious grounding through inspiring stories of the Prophets and moral figures from Islamic history. These timeless lessons are presented in simple, clear English, allowing students to build on their language skills—particularly narrative development, comprehension, and expression—while deepening their understanding of faith and values. Through these stories, children learn not only to appreciate language but also to internalize virtues such as honesty, patience, compassion, and service to others.
What makes these sessions truly transformative is their practical focus. Students are guided to reflect on the stories’ meanings and to explore how the values they learn can be applied within their families, schools, and communities. This approach ensures that moral lessons are not abstract concepts but living principles that shape their daily behavior, decisions, and interactions.
For Dr. Atiyah, “Story Time” is also a deeply personal connection with her students. It is the one time where she interacts face-to-face with hundreds of children—listening to their thoughts, feelings, and reflections, and understanding how they are progressing both emotionally and academically. Around 500 students from various facilities participate simultaneously, creating a rich, interactive experience where feedback flows in all directions.
This unique setup serves as a 360-degree feedback system—students share their insights directly with Dr. Atiyah, while teachers and staff observe how students engage, respond, and grow through these sessions. It becomes a collective moment of learning, empathy, and accountability, allowing Dr. Atiyah to stay closely connected to the heart of the school community and to the well-being of every child.
However, to keep this valuable program thriving, sustained funding and resources are essential. Each session requires ongoing investment in storybooks, visual aids, digital connectivity for multiple campuses, sound and multimedia equipment, and teacher training to ensure effective engagement and consistent quality. The logistical costs of organizing simultaneous sessions across facilities, maintaining technical support, and developing new story materials also add to the financial demand. Yet, these expenses are a vital investment in our students’ language fluency, moral development, and emotional well-being.
With continued donor support, we can expand the reach of “Story Time,” enhance its delivery, and ensure that every child continues to benefit from these powerful lessons that shape hearts, strengthen faith, and build futures grounded in knowledge and compassion.
