IT Training and Digital Empowerment

In today’s world, digital literacy is a vital skill—not just for students, but also for teachers and staff. Recognizing this, Dr. Atiya Pearl has taken the initiative to personally lead and oversee comprehensive IT training sessions for all staff members, ensuring that every educator is confident and capable in using modern technology as a tool for learning, communication, and administration.

The training encompasses a broad range of essential skills, starting with the fundamentals of computer handling and progressing to more specialized areas. Staff members are trained in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel for creating lesson plans, maintaining data, and producing report cards with accuracy and professionalism. They also learn to use virtual communication tools such as Zoom—essential for conducting Story Time sessions, online meetings, and interactive learning programs.

Participants are also taught how to share documents, collaborate digitally, and maintain proper communication through online platforms. This training enables smooth coordination between teachers and administrative staff, ensuring that information is exchanged efficiently and securely.

Staff members have also learned how to connect and manage digital equipment, including laptops, projectors, and speakers, as well as how to search the internet effectively for educational resources, stories, and exam content. Over time, what began as a journey from zero computer knowledge has become a story of remarkable transformation. Teachers who once found technology intimidating are now able to operate laptops confidently, manage hardware, troubleshoot issues, and even assist others.

Through consistent and structured IT workshops held throughout the year, staff members have learned how to create and organize data in spreadsheets, prepare digital teaching materials, and present lessons using multimedia tools. They now take on administrative responsibilities such as coordinating Story Time schedules, managing digital attendance, and sharing information across platforms in the correct formats.

This empowerment has not only enhanced the efficiency of school operations but has also boosted the confidence and creativity of the teachers. Today, every staff member is an active participant in the school’s digital ecosystem—capable of connecting, collaborating, and contributing effectively.

Dr. Atiya’s vision for IT training goes beyond skill-building; it is about creating self-reliant, tech-savvy educators who can adapt to changing educational needs and use technology to inspire and support their students.
